Trip to Butterfly Park, Kuala Lumpur

When you are in Kuala Lumpur and need to get away from the city, the Lake Gardens offers you several places to commune with nature. One such attraction is the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park, just a stone's throw from the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. The Butterfly Park houses more than 6,000 butterflies from 120 exotic species.

It's a great place to go to if you're looking for quick respite from the grey landscape and smog. Who would have thought you could find a quiet park like this in the middle of town? Hey, Malaysia also has some nice butterflies, okay? Cantik dan besar (big and beautiful), Malaysia boleh! ;)

There is a nursery and breeding area for the butterflies. The park includes both preserved and live specimens, totaling 1,230 species in all. Facilities include an informative insect museum. On your way out you go through an informative insect museum, where you can also see some living animals.

There is also a souvenir shop near the exit selling lots of local handicrafts and framed butterflies and beetles. You can buy local handicrafts, frames butterflies and beetles. You also can enjoy a glimpse of butterflies at this unique park! Close to the Butterfly Park is The Bird Park en The Orchid Garden.

Traveling Tips:

1. Bring mineral water
2. Bring mosquito repellent
3. Bring your camera
4. Bring a small towel to wipe your sweat
5. Dress appropriately; we will be walking along a path in the jungle after all.
6. Remember that this is a macro outing, so we will be bug hunting. This takes patience and perseverance, so we will move slowly.

This amazing park was close to the hotel in Kuala Lumpur where I was staying.....needless to say, it was my first outing in Malaysia. I enjoyed my trip immensely and I have scores of photos to show for it.
