Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), was launched on the 27th of June 1998. KLIA airport is built in the jungle with features that allow flexibility for future expansion. KLIA has a futuristic look. Everything is very spacious and serene. Sometimes you think you're walking in a space station. A lot of glass (windows), white colors and shiny floors. All very clean, sterile. Actually the airport has two locations, which are connected by a monorail.

Located within the Multimedia Super Corridor and close to the country's future administrative capital, Putra Jaya, the airport is approximately 75 kilometres south of Kuala Lumpur's city centre. It is accessible via the Kuala Lumpur - Seremban Highway/KLIA interchange as well as the Shah Alam/North-South Central Link Expressway. Drive time to the city centre is approximately 60 minutes.

Passenger flow is contained in three main complexes - the Satellite Building, Contact Pier and the Main Terminal Building. The Main Terminal Building is linked to the Contact Pier, while a fully automated train shuttles passengers between the Satellite Building and the Contact Pier. Check-in and Immigration are handled at the Main Terminal Building, while disembarkation and embarkation are handled at the Contact Pier and the Satellite Building.

The Satellite Building serves passengers traveling on international flights. The Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge, duty free shops, restaurants and other facilities, such as an 80 rooms hotel are situated in this building.

At the multi-level Main Terminal Building, six check-in islands with up to 216 counters are located on the Departure level. Also on this floor are duty free shops, restaurants and other facilities such as foreign exchange counters and telecommunication facilities. One floor down is the Mezainine Level, the central gateway for passengers bound for international destinations.
