The construction of this building started in 1893 and was completed in 1896. It is one of the oldest buildings in Kuala Lumpur. AC Norman (architect) and CE Spooner (state engineer) have been credited for the creation of this building. RAJ Bidwell (chief draughtsman) did the elevation based on a Mohametan (sic) style as instructed by CE Spooner.<br /><br />The centre of attraction is its clock tower in the middle – Kuala Lumpur answer to London's 'Big Ben'. This magnificent <a href="http://kuala--lumpur.blogspot.com/2008/09/kuala-lumpur-railway-station.html">Moorish-styled building</a> is the beloved symbol of Kuala Lumpur that can be seen on postcards, tourism broachers, stamps and posters. Although it is only a building, we should appreciate it as it kept its own sentimental value to Malaysian people.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyj_0jnnZVNyMBlbteQ4MwCiIBUhVH2aNv37GIrDGRAd8SrgGIyG_rFtC-bBnCjs6gmGdCBREJiUJJnl4TZCnBtpRNE7B8E9Y-hu7T8cow1cWyX0SfGvYMRQ4KqLmQr9BP6mRJSN1s-YKl/s1600-h/Sultan+Abdul+Samad+Building2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 226px; height: 174px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyj_0jnnZVNyMBlbteQ4MwCiIBUhVH2aNv37GIrDGRAd8SrgGIyG_rFtC-bBnCjs6gmGdCBREJiUJJnl4TZCnBtpRNE7B8E9Y-hu7T8cow1cWyX0SfGvYMRQ4KqLmQr9BP6mRJSN1s-YKl/s320/Sultan+Abdul+Samad+Building2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5273218804497396082" border="0" /></a> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiowKO6kMvG9bcsIG6IcLt9Vl_cThF4pOy9fmy8Yzt6InxxvE1p6Emve3gY3AVD1xXovkKW235cpSojkq9-a0WiQ5swh-dc-T9yKW3aSTNKP3KSdhvoeUVRlWYiFBStfuVHBhY58QkCXM0D/s1600-h/Sultan+Abdul+Samad+Building4.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 231px; height: 173px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiowKO6kMvG9bcsIG6IcLt9Vl_cThF4pOy9fmy8Yzt6InxxvE1p6Emve3gY3AVD1xXovkKW235cpSojkq9-a0WiQ5swh-dc-T9yKW3aSTNKP3KSdhvoeUVRlWYiFBStfuVHBhY58QkCXM0D/s320/Sultan+Abdul+Samad+Building4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5273218807504518674" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br />Many historical events had been held in front of this building. Among them was the declaration of independence of Malaysia (Malaya then) on 31 August, 1957 and the lowering of the Union Jack Flag. You will see all rank of people here, the Malaysian plus the weather, hot and humid. But really not that bad in the evening, so try to avoid visiting the market in the afternoon where the sun is right on top of your head. Safety here is ok, just keep your property close with you as when you tour to other country.<br /><br />If you prefer a comfortable shopping, then you can go Sogo Departmental Store. The price there also not bad and it has a lot of children clothing and eating outlets. Right opposite Sogo you will find the Pertama Complex where you will find a lots of Jeans shop and opposite of the other side of Sogo you will find Campbell Complex. It offers variety of things, ie. sun glasses, clothing, watches etc. Both buildings has been there very long and a walk there just to see how KL has evolved through time. You will be able to see the 10years ago KL with the nowaday KL when you compare them to MidValley, KLCC and Sunway.<br /><br />You can go to Jalan TAR via public buses, taxis and even train via STAR line and the Komuter train. Parking is a little bit of problem though, but you can park a little bit further opposite the police station. There are a few open space parking lots which charged per entry. I just love this place....... for a different shopping experince. Bringing small children will be a problem though.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577815812562410234.post-50751338751275330732008-09-09T23:10:00.000-07:002008-09-09T23:38:31.031-07:00Trip to Butterfly Park, Kuala Lumpur<span style="font-weight: bold;">Trip to Butterfly Park, Kuala Lumpur</span><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC3ksXSc0fqkc-upFa4C6MV-DcKUKR6EYzOTn-5-t4hiEOKZS8BzPyAPT6c-BkG_Cfe-UPTsFCJZMOoBlJZlpEkCWFWfQKLVwX46ijUZARJGFynfo1mBIfU-pD9cFNUiBpqX3rcst0eWS-/s1600-h/Butterfly+Park-KL03.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC3ksXSc0fqkc-upFa4C6MV-DcKUKR6EYzOTn-5-t4hiEOKZS8BzPyAPT6c-BkG_Cfe-UPTsFCJZMOoBlJZlpEkCWFWfQKLVwX46ijUZARJGFynfo1mBIfU-pD9cFNUiBpqX3rcst0eWS-/s200/Butterfly+Park-KL03.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5244277493117176850" border="0" /> </a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcy5X9AGshBg3FqgjE9PJGb4PS2ImoybGGbcBcW8QFYjJtMbdTuxE5cm5k6CIrJ9ycPOPXclhgem1271UhKR-RrsJ7brfYnl1QXge11siMa-wYnHTYmGjhUZt_0smcfi7LmQKfqliErP0l/s1600-h/Butterfly+Park-KL06.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcy5X9AGshBg3FqgjE9PJGb4PS2ImoybGGbcBcW8QFYjJtMbdTuxE5cm5k6CIrJ9ycPOPXclhgem1271UhKR-RrsJ7brfYnl1QXge11siMa-wYnHTYmGjhUZt_0smcfi7LmQKfqliErP0l/s200/Butterfly+Park-KL06.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5244277765962223634" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />When you are in Kuala Lumpur and need to get away from the city, the Lake Gardens offers you several places to commune with nature. I was surprised that the zoo was in good condition. Maintenance is an issue and many of these beautiful exhibits are now covered in thick foliage therefore you might not be able to spot the lion or tiger hiding behind the thick bushes.. I always thought our Zoo Negara was poorly managed. It’s probably still far from being world class, but it’s good enough to provide a decent experience for visitors.<br /><br /><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ADm4reARP4&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8ADm4reARP4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></embed></object><br /><br />Located in Ampang, the Zoo Negara technically in the state of Selangor but its only 5 minutes from Kuala Lumpur city (depending on which part of the city you are coming from). The city proper, making up an area of 244 km2, has an estimated population of 1.6 million in 2006. More than any other spot in the Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, or "KL" as it is commonly known, is the focal point of new Malaysia. While the city's past is still present in the evocative British colonial buildings of the Dataran Merdeka and the midnight lamps of the Petaling Street nightmarket, that past is everywhere met with insistent reminders of Kuala Lumpur present and future.<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU437q-0T9UbjmSE6P8FOBKvLkpESYQV33RTW3SGxV9v_TfWgd7bKBGVKPYF1lHgN4UUp1n0TU2_GHL7QhKD3c4hBrDLhjxr52njCeJStgr7IZ-79xoeVoRIDWZvZYpdVis6CHcfPVx1Xh/s1600-h/hotel_291_3033.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU437q-0T9UbjmSE6P8FOBKvLkpESYQV33RTW3SGxV9v_TfWgd7bKBGVKPYF1lHgN4UUp1n0TU2_GHL7QhKD3c4hBrDLhjxr52njCeJStgr7IZ-79xoeVoRIDWZvZYpdVis6CHcfPVx1Xh/s200/hotel_291_3033.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226209838628350834" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br />Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.2 million. It is the fastest growing metropolitan region in the country, in terms of population as well as economy. The city's bustling streets, its shining, modern office towers, and its cosmopolitan air project an unbounded spirit of progress and symbolize Malaysia's unhesitating leap into the future. To some, this spirit seems to have been gained at the loss of ancient cultural traditions, but in many ways Kuala Lumpur marks the continuation rather than the loss of Malaysia's rich past. Like Malacca five hundred years before, Kuala Lumpur commercial centre is a grand meeting place for merchants and travelers from all over the world.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3577815812562410234.post-83741134472943591642008-07-23T03:27:00.000-07:002008-07-23T03:29:52.455-07:00Welcome to Kuala Lumpur BlogWelcome to Kuala Lumpur Blog!<br /><br />Welcome to Kuala Lumpur information blog.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1
